We were thrilled to have shared celebrations with Penrhosgarnedd FC over the weekend, as an 8-0 win saw their under 15s claim the Gwynedd U15 League title for 2024\25 – and topping it off with an undefeated record.
Saturday saw Penrhos on the road as they faced Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs, with their focus firmly on the league title. It was a day set up perfectly for football, with glorious sunshine setting the stage, and Penrhosgarnedd’s U15s took full advantage as they ensured they were crowned champions with an unbeaten streak.
It was youngster Riley Keaton who opened the scoring for Penrhos on the 19th minute, with Zac Leung doubling their lead minutes later. Before the first half came to an end, Iestyn Roberts would add himself to the scoresheet, ensuring his side headed into the second half with a three-goal lead as they marched towards the title.
The goalscoring didn’t stop in the second half, with both Zac Leung and Riley Keaton netting themselves a brace each, with Keaton going onto add an assist to his afternoon – setting up Kaydan Williams – Squires. Two more goals would follow, with Dyfan Roberts and Dilan Kells making it 8-0 between them.
As the final whistle blew, they’d done it, they had won the league title and had done it without recording a single league loss.
Coach Mathew Roberts gave his thoughts on the afternoon, and the exciting future that lies ahead.
“We’re proud to finish the league season unbeaten in 17 matches and lift the title, an incredible achievement built on togetherness, effort, and commitment from everyone involved.
There’s still one more challenge to come, and we’re looking forward to the league cup as we aim to finish the season on a high.
We’re also really excited for what’s ahead as we become part of Bangor City 1876, a fantastic opportunity with a clear pathway for the boys into senior football in Bangor. The future looks bright!”
